Everything You Need in One Place

Commercial Mowing

Mowing is performed 26 times per season. There are two cuttings in April, then weekly from May through September, finishing with two mowings in October. All mowings will be at 3½” as warranted by current weather conditions.

As experienced commercial landscapers in Longmont, CO serving the Northern Front Range, our goal in the spring is to enhance the natural qualities of your lawn to achieve a dense and lush turf as quickly as possible. Clippings will be recycled into the turf on all large open areas and collected in smaller areas such as townhomes and condominium units.

Blowing is completed after each mowing. Our landscapers in Longmont, CO will blow away all grass clippings from driveways, streets, sidewalks, tennis courts, and pool areas back into turf areas for a clean appearance. Line trimming will be completed with every landscape maintenance service and consists of cutting around all obstacles not accessible with mowing equipment. Power edging will also be performed on all areas where turf meets a driveway or sidewalk every three weeks from April through October. All debris cut off by power edgers, such as soil and turf, will be removed after this service is completed.

Field Mowing

Field mowing is performed as needed throughout the season. The length, type, and density of the field grass can vary, so we will determine the most appropriate method to cut each area.

Fields overrun with weeds and debris may require a brush hog attachment on heavy machinery. If the field conditions are reasonable, we can use our standard commercial mowers more efficiently. For this reason, our landscapers in Berthoud, CO recommend scheduling two or three additional mowings per season after the initial cut to help keep costs down and maintain a well-kept appearance.

Aeration

Core aeration is an essential step in maintaining a healthy lawn. Our landscapers in Longmont, CO recommend performing aeration three times per year: once in the spring, once in the summer (to combat drought), and once in the fall.

Aeration reduces the amount of water needed, increases the effectiveness of fertilizers and pesticides, minimizes disease, pest, and weed problems, and helps improve the health of problem areas.

Power Raking

De-thatching is the process of removing excessive thatch from the turf and is sometimes referred to as power raking. Our landscapers in Berthoud, CO perform this service. Thatch is organic material that is produced faster than it can decompose.

Once removed, your turf can absorb more nutrients and water at the root level. De-thatching is an important step in maintaining a healthy lawn and is typically necessary only in the spring.

Backflow Testing

Ward's Lawn Service, along with most watering districts in Northern Colorado, recommends that your backflow prevention device be tested annually. Our landscapers in Berthoud, CO are certified to test all types of backflows—domestic, irrigation, isolation, and more—up to 10" devices.

This step is essential to prevent contaminants from being siphoned back into the neighborhood’s water supply. Our technicians are ABPA certified and, in most cases, can perform testing in any season. However, irrigation backflows are much easier to test during the months when the system is active.

Sprinkler Repairs or Troubleshooting

Sprinkler lines are constantly shifting due to expansive and contractive soils, temperature changes, and the movement of water, which can lead to splits and fissures.

Sprinkler heads and electronic valves contain gaskets and electrical components that wear out over time, and sprinkler heads have filters that can become clogged. Our landscapers in Berthoud, CO perform sprinkler repairs on a time-and-material basis.

Sprinkler Turn On

In the spring, the irrigation system is activated, timed according to proper evapotranspiration (ET) rates, and each head is adjusted for correct rotation and coverage.

Every zone is checked for any winter damage that can be detected at this time. Issues such as worn valves, damaged sprinkler head seals, and water pooling from cracked or worn pipes and connections are addressed.

Residential customers with extensive damage may require more work than a standard turn-on service can cover. In such cases, the work will be completed on a time-and-material basis to ensure the system is fully operational. Our landscapers in Longmont, CO strive to provide complete, professional service at a competitive rate.

Sprinkler Winterization

In the fall, our landscapers in Longmont, CO will winterize your sprinkler system by shutting off the tap source and the backflow prevention assembly. Valves and lateral lines are blown out with compressed air, and test cocks and valves are left partially open to allow airflow.

This airflow lets the pressure in the lines expand and contract with temperature changes, preventing splits or fissures in PVC or poly lines and valves, and protecting the backflow prevention device from cracking. The timing of this service is dictated by weather conditions. Winterization is typically performed by our landscapers in Longmont, CO between October 1 and November 15.

Pruning

Ward's Lawn Service will prune shrubs as well as deciduous trees up to ten feet. Our landscapers in Longmont, CO use a variety of techniques to ensure landscapes grow strong and lush without becoming overgrown. Employees are trained to take appropriate actions based on the season in which pruning occurs, creating the best growing conditions for your plants.

Please make note of any special areas of concern for your pruning service. Providing information on which shrubs not to touch, specific heights to trim, or preferences for natural versus shaped vegetation will help ensure complete satisfaction with the finished result.

Residential Clean-Up

Residential clean-ups can include as much—or as little—as you need. In general, our crews pick up and dispose of debris, leaves, pine needles, and branches from the property. Our landscapers in Berthoud, CO can prune shrubs and deciduous trees up to ten feet. All landscaped areas are weeded by hand, with large weeds pulled and small weeds treated with spray.

Mulch and rock may be fluffed or re-spread, tree stakes removed, edging reset, and various other touch-ups performed on old or deteriorating landscape areas. We are happy to work with you to get your property looking its best!

Commercial Clean-Up

Commercial clean-ups are essential to keep your business looking its best and operating at peak condition. Our commercial maintenance crews pick up and dispose of debris, leaves, pine needles, and branches from the property. Spring Clean-Up

Time to establish a starting point for the year! The spring clean-up is often included in many commercial contracts to set optimum growing conditions as well as clear boundaries and standards. All debris from the winter months, including pine needles, leftover leaves, and branches, will be removed and disposed of properly. Any tree wraps will be taken off, and ornamental shrub grasses will be sheared. Shrubs and trees may also require minor pruning to promote healthy growth and keep your landscape looking its best.

If there are any special areas of concern, such as known problem spots, replacement shrubs, or other services needed to prepare your property for the year, please let us know when you schedule your service. As always, our landscapers in Berthoud, CO are happy to do whatever it takes to ensure your satisfaction!

Leaf Clean-Up

Ward's Lawn Service recommends leaf clean-ups as often as needed, along with the removal of all debris, including leaves, pine needles, branches, and trash. We can also prune all shrubs and deciduous trees up to 10 feet. Ideally, this service should be scheduled once all leaves have fallen; however, multiple services may be needed throughout the season as leaves continue to drop.

Commercial properties should refer to their Landscape Maintenance Contract for information on included services. Ward's Lawn Service typically allocates a designated number of man-hours for this service.

Flowers

Our landscapers in Longmont, CO can also provide hanging baskets and potted flowers for hardscape areas. Let us liven up the atmosphere of your backyard or your entire Homeowners’ Association.

Ward's Lawn Service recommends planting flowers in areas with automated watering systems and cannot offer a warranty for flowers that do not receive adequate water. Bulbs can also be planted in the fall. Whatever your flower needs, please don’t hesitate to call with questions. Our employees are experienced horticulturists and can recommend the best products for the job.

Fertilization

Fertilizer is applied three times per season. Additional applications are available for an extra fee if the customer desires. Each application consists of a blend of balanced-release Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K).

Adjuvant ingredients are included at different stages throughout the season, such as pre-emergent weed control, Iron (Fe), and other plant and soil enhancers like Prospect Plus. Fertilizer applications are scheduled no closer than five to six weeks apart.

Weed Control

Ward's Lawn Service handles weed control both chemically and physically. Commercial properties are addressed once a week during mowing services. Any weeds in mulch or rock beds larger than three inches in height are pulled, while smaller, younger weeds are treated with Roundup or a similar herbicide. This allows mowing crews to maintain efficiency while keeping the landscape looking its best.

Our landscapers in Berthoud, CO also add broadleaf weed control to our liquid fertilizer for a blanket treatment of standard lawns. Stronger herbicides and spot spray methods may be applied and reapplied as needed to achieve the desired effect.

Pre-Emergent

Pre-emergent weed control prevents weeds from germinating and is especially critical for rock and mulch beds in the spring. Dormant seeds accumulate during the fall and winter, waiting for the warmth of spring to start growing. Preventing this early growth avoids potential problems later in the season.

Pre-emergent can be applied anytime throughout the season. The herbicide has an orange tint when applied, allowing the applicator to ensure complete coverage; it fades as it is absorbed into the soil. Pre-emergent is included in our spring fertilizer application to help your lawn establish weed-free. Without this service, your landscape is at risk for infestation.

Disease and Pest Control

Ward's Lawn Service offers a variety of treatments to control both disease and pests. Our experienced professionals inspect all problem areas on your property, determine the cause, and take appropriate action.

This service is not limited to turf areas—trees and shrubs are also susceptible to fungus and insects. Treatments may need to be reapplied to ensure your landscape fully recovers. If underlying issues exist, such as watering or mowing practices, our professionals can recommend healthy alternatives to a chemical approach.
